Vietnam.vn reports on the Ministry of Information and Communications’ (MIC) strategic initiative to establish a "Safe and Responsible AI Development Ecosystem" in Vietnam by 2030. The roadmap, discussed at a recent high-level meeting in Hanoi, focuses on ensuring that the rapid adoption of AI across various sectors—from healthcare to finance—remains human-centered and ethically sound. The strategy prioritizes the creation of national technical standards for AI safety, which will include mandatory testing for bias, transparency in data usage, and cybersecurity protocols to protect the national digital infrastructure. The Vietnamese government seeks to balance the drive for economic modernization with the need to safeguard social stability and privacy.

The initiative encourages collaboration between the public sector, academic institutions, and tech enterprises to develop locally-tailored AI solutions that reflect Vietnam's linguistic and cultural context. Key pillars of the ecosystem include the development of a "shared data warehouse" for research and the implementation of a national ethics code for AI developers. By 2030, Vietnam aims to be among the top countries in the region for AI innovation and governance. The MIC emphasized that a "safe AI" ecosystem is not just a regulatory burden but a competitive advantage that will attract high-quality foreign investment and build long-term public trust in automated government services and commercial products.
