UNESCO, in partnership with the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence (IRCAI), has launched a special issue of a scientific journal dedicated to the theme of "AI and Justice." This publication brings together a diverse collection of research and perspectives from international experts, including judges, lawyers, academics, and technologists, to explore the profound implications of Artificial Intelligence for judicial systems around the globe. The initiative aims to foster a global dialogue on how to harness the benefits of AI while upholding fundamental human rights and ensuring the integrity of the rule of law.

The journal addresses a wide array of critical topics, such as the use of AI in predictive justice, the potential for algorithmic bias to perpetuate discrimination, and the challenges of ensuring transparency and accountability in AI-driven legal tools. It also examines the potential of AI to enhance access to justice for marginalized communities by automating legal services and providing information. Through this collaborative effort, UNESCO and IRCAI seek to provide policymakers and legal professionals with valuable insights and to promote the development of ethical frameworks and standards for the responsible use of AI in the sensitive domain of justice, consistent with UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
