UNESCO announced that Colombia will host the 14th Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week on 23-24 October 2025 in Cartagena de Indias. The event’s theme, “Minds over AI – MIL in Digital Spaces,” emphasizes the critical role of media and information literacy in empowering individuals to think critically and engage meaningfully in a world shaped by artificial intelligence.

The event will highlight the need to safeguard truth, foster trust, and strengthen civic engagement amid algorithm-driven environments. Special focus will be on youth participation, who will contribute to co-creating narratives around responsible AI and propose innovative solutions. A dedicated day will focus on revitalizing UNESCO’s Global MIL Alliance to enhance governance and member engagement. Alongside the main conference, global events will reinforce the worldwide movement toward media literacy for all.
