The International Bar Association’s Section on Public and Professional Interest (SPPI) Artificial Intelligence Working Group has launched Phase 2 of its AI Impact Survey to collect insights from legal professionals worldwide on AI’s transformative effects on the legal sector. The survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete, is segmented to reflect different legal roles including academia, judiciary, corporate counsel, private and public sector lawyers, and early career professionals.
The findings will be presented at the IBA 2025 Annual Conference in Toronto during a session titled “AI's impact on the legal profession: from threat to game-changing advantage.” Sönke Lund, Chair of the Working Group, emphasized that the survey will help frame policies ensuring responsible and ethical AI use in law. This phase builds on the momentum of the IBA’s 2024 report “The Future is Now: Artificial Intelligence and the Legal Profession,” developed with the Center for AI and Digital Policy.
