The article reports on Bahrain’s launch of a comprehensive national AI policy aimed at fostering innovation, digital transformation, and ethical AI use. Under the leadership of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), the policy is structured around four pillars: legal compliance, responsible AI use, public education, and international cooperation. It aligns with Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law, Protection of Information and State Documents Law, and Open Data Policy.

The policy aims to promote secure and responsible AI deployment to drive economic and social growth while enhancing government efficiency. The accompanying Guiding Manual on AI Ethics, issued by the GCC Ministerial Committee for eGovernment, emphasizes fairness, privacy, and human dignity. The initiative reflects Bahrain’s ambition to become a sustainable and innovative digital nation by integrating AI systematically across public sector services and building public trust.
