We Are Tech reports that Cameroon has unveiled its National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (SNIA) on July 7, 2025, aiming to position the country as a continental AI hub by 2040. The strategy focuses on sovereign, inclusive, and sustainable AI solutions rooted in African cultural realities. Key objectives include training 60,000 talents (40% women), creating 12,000 direct jobs, contributing 0.8-1.2% to GDP, and developing 12 sovereign AI solutions.

The strategy is structured around seven pillars: governance and digital sovereignty; data and digital infrastructure; multilingual and inclusive AI; sovereign technological infrastructure; education, research, and human capital; innovation and sectoral use cases; and regional cooperation and outreach. The plan emphasizes linguistic diversity, renewable energy-powered edge computing, and international partnerships to foster AI growth aligned with local needs.
