MLex reports that Singapore has launched a first-of-its-kind global AI assurance sandbox, inviting companies worldwide to test AI systems for fairness, security, and transparency under a structured regulatory pilot. The sandbox will operate under the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and aims to foster international standards for trustworthy AI.

The initiative allows AI developers to engage with regulators, auditors, and third-party assessors while testing real-world use cases. It seeks to validate AI systems against principles of explainability, non-discrimination, and reliability, helping organizations comply with both domestic and cross-border regulatory frameworks.

The sandbox is designed to support harmonization of AI governance and strengthen global cooperation in responsible AI deployment. By serving as a neutral, innovation-friendly testing ground, Singapore positions itself as a global hub for AI governance, attracting both private and public sector actors interested in building trust in AI technologies.
