Morocco is preparing a national strategy to guide the development and deployment of artificial intelligence in an ethical and sustainable manner. The new roadmap seeks to ensure that AI technologies are introduced with respect for human rights, social equity, and environmental responsibility, while promoting economic growth and digital innovation.

Officials emphasize that the strategy will involve multiple stakeholders—government, private sector, civil society, and academia—to create a regulatory framework that both encourages innovation and mitigates risks such as discrimination, bias, and misuse of personal data. Transparency, inclusivity, and accountability are set as core values of Morocco’s AI vision.

The initiative marks Morocco’s intention to become a leader in responsible AI in Africa, setting standards that could influence neighboring countries and position the nation at the forefront of ethical technology governance on the continent.
