According to a government-commissioned study by Boston Consulting Group and the Aspen Institute Central Europe, generative artificial intelligence (AI) will affect over 40% of jobs in the Czech Republic by 2035, impacting approximately 2.3 million workers. High-skilled professions such as law, software development, business, marketing, media, and logistics are most at risk, with around 600,000 roles requiring significant retraining. Another 33% of jobs will experience moderate changes with AI assistance.
Despite job displacement, up to 955,000 new positions may emerge due to innovation and economic growth. The aging Czech population is expected to increase demand in healthcare and social services, sectors already facing workforce shortages. The Ministry of Labor is implementing reforms focused on retraining, digital education, and labor market flexibility to manage the transition. The study emphasizes the importance of adaptability and digital skills for maintaining competitiveness in an AI-driven economy.
