Sidley reports that the European Commission has formally released its “AI Continent” Action Plan and launched a public consultation to gather feedback from industry, academia, civil society, and national governments. The plan outlines the EU’s vision for a unified AI ecosystem based on sovereignty, security, innovation, and ethical use.

Key components include cross-border infrastructure investments, support for AI startups and SMEs, and measures to ensure compliance with EU ethical guidelines. The consultation aims to refine the plan before it is formally adopted and funded under the next Digital Europe Programme.

Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their views by the end of the second quarter of 2025.
