Kyiv Post reports that Ukraine is preparing to introduce its first national law on artificial intelligence. The draft legislation is modeled closely on the EU’s AI Act and aims to position the country for future alignment with European legal frameworks, in line with its broader EU integration strategy.

The law will adopt a risk-based regulatory approach, categorizing AI systems and imposing stricter controls on high-risk applications. It will also address transparency, data governance, and accountability. Ukrainian officials believe this legislation will attract international investment and enhance public trust in AI technologies.

The draft is expected to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) for debate later in 2025.
