Billboard Philippines reports that South Korea’s KOMCA (Korea Music Copyright Association) has implemented strict new regulations regarding the registration of AI-generated songs. Effective from March 2025, these rules require detailed disclosure about the extent of human involvement in the creation process.

Compositions created solely or mostly by AI may be refused registration or classified separately. KOMCA aims to preserve the integrity of human-authored music and protect the rights of traditional creators. The decision follows growing concerns among artists about AI systems undermining originality and financial compensation.

The move positions Korea as one of the first countries to formally regulate the entry of AI-generated works into national copyright systems.
