The New Times Rwanda reports that Rwanda will incorporate artificial intelligence governance within its broader legal framework for ICT. The new legislation, currently in drafting phase, will include provisions on ethical use, data protection, transparency, and risk classification for AI systems.

Officials stated that the move is aimed at fostering innovation while ensuring legal safeguards are in place for high-risk applications. Rwanda joins a growing list of African nations seeking proactive AI regulation aligned with global standards. Public consultations are planned before final parliamentary approval.
